MUNICIPAL POOL, LIBEREC

The swimmers competing for Global Games medals will use the competition 50-meter pool with eight lanes that includes two diving boards (1 and 3 meters) and a five-meter diving tower. Water temperature usually moves around 26 degrees Celsius and the pool 1.35 m deep at one end and 3.80 m deep on the other.

Originally built purely for competitive swimming in 1985, the pool today offers recreational and relaxation activities for the public, too. Thanks to its refurbishment started in 1994, the aquatic center now includes a paddle pool with Jacuzzi, children’s pool, toboggans, steam chambers, saunas, whirlpools and solariums.

The swimming pool can be thus used for swimming competitions (including international competitions), and competitive training sessions and camps. In the past, the pool hosted INAS-FID World Championships and European Championships. Therefore, many swimmers with intellectual disability may have already swum in the pool. In the course of the 2009 Global Games, 150 swimmers from 23 countries will compete for medals in the Liberec Municipal Pool, with Japan sending the largest team of swimmers (16 members).
